"...Sarah Andrews Barfield, 1897-1949" p. 11
Many folks say that the dash between the years of birth and death indicates the true meaning of life. What is done during that dash is important. Who you love and appreciate and respect in your dash tells a lot about you. Tell us a little bit about your dash.

The most important people to me are my family. Especially my mom and my sister because we've been through a lot together and they are the two people that understand me the most and the people i know i can always talk to. I've moved around a lot and have gotten to know many people. I believe that there is a big difference between growing up in the city and growing up in a subburb. When i was young i used to go on adventures whenever my sister and i went to our friend adele's house and we had some of the best times. Hiding in cornfeilds, snowmobiling with our dads, swimming in her pool, racing our bikes, and staying up late at night watching movies. In the city i used to play games in the streets wit my friends or in the cemetery by our houses. In the summer when my step sister would visit from north carolina, we'd spend almost every moment enjoying our breif time we'd spend together. We'd ride our bikes or walk anywhere we possibly could and always made sure each other was safe. Every summer our family would go to Dorney Park where we always had a lot of fun. Riding roller coasters and splashing in the amusement park when it got to hot was what i looked most forward to in the summer. Then when she came in the winter we'd go sledding in the cemetery and laugh at eachother whenever we'd hit a tombstone and fly off the sled. After we'd drink hot chocolate and sit by the radiator to warm up. I think the best times of my life were when i was fourteen and under becuase i didnt have to work or be responsible. Everything was fun, innocent and exciting. My teenage years have been good but arent anything like when i was young because i see the whole world in a different perspective than i had when i was young.
In my life my dash is indeed my family. I would say more of my immediate family then anything. My mom, dad, my grandma, my two aunts, and cousins. I think my mom and I are alot closer since I got older. We never agreed on anything when we were living in New York. Now she is my best friend. I love being around my family all the time especially on holidays we always have a good time with each other. My cousins and I are silly so we always keep the adults laughing and having a good time no matter what they're mood is. My family say that I am the silly person who always keep things going and when I'm down and out they bring my spirit up. Family is something to be thankful and I can honestly say that I am extremely thankful for my family. Just like any other family we go through trials and tribulations but no matter what our love for each other is irreplaceable.
My dash "Life" the people I cherish the most is my family and friends. It hard for me to connect to other people because I'm a really laid back and direct person I guess that pill is hard to swallow for some. I'm from Philly and I love that place so much it crazy. Kutztown is sure a dramatic chance from what I'm use to that I'm really thinking about transferring. Um I feel some type of way that my blog is going under Amanda after she wrote so much and I can't even remember half the stuff I did. Anyway I went to Bodine High School for International Affairs for my first 3 years of high school then went to my neigorborhood school Overbrook "castle on the hill". No I didn't get kicked out its just that I hated Bodine yes Hated it with a passion my soul would cry when ever school was in session; and I wanted my last year to be fun so I went to Overbrook where I knew everyone and had fun. Well that all I have to say for now. Talk to you next blog.

My dash in life would definatly be my family. They make me who i am. without them i would be lost. without my family there would be no landmarks in my life, no births, no deaths, no birthdays, no anniversaries. My family makes those events and memories meaningful.
the people most important to me in life would have to be my friends, and then my family. I know that my group of girls will never fall apart because we have been through everything together. Even as we become more and more different we grow closer together. Many of my family are my friends, and however backwards it may be I don't have the level of trust in my family members that I do in my core group of friends. They all mean the world to me though, and I know that I would put myself out there for all of them.
The most important people in my life are my family. They are there when I need them, and I care about them. Although most of the dash is about them, not all of it is. I am still trying to find my meaning of life. Hopefully I will find it before death.
Was not sure if I was supposed to just post this on my blog or here...
In my dash I would have to say that my immediate family and friends are the most important things. I don't place one higher then the other as they are different types of appreciation. Family is blood, they have and will always be there for you and that is very important to me. However friends are just as important as its the people that are close to you (I also have no brothers or sisters, so friends are like family) and its another whole different type of relationship.
My dash I feel has just began to start as I am now on my own to make my own decisions. Before college there was not much choice of what to do as every night I would end up under my parents roof, so I feel that my dash has just started.

My "dash," has changed as time and people have changed. When I was younger I always thought my parents would be the ones who never left my side, and never let a frown appear on my face. As I grew older, sadly, I grew apart from my parents. My strongest relationship leaped to my grandmother, Marie and my younger sister Crystal. I grew up with both and they each taught me so much about life and about myself. My grandma passed away a few years ago, and though my memories stay strong it feels like I've lost a lot. Now in college I've become closer with my Aunt, and even closer with my sister Crystal. I've made tons of friends, and I've kept the old from high school. My family and friends truly have shaped what I have become, and made many experiences unforgettable.
It’s important to know that we all have a dash in life. My “dash” has to be my immediate family and my close friends in Philly. I used to resent my dad, but since moving away, I have learned that he has his own ways. I have come to appreciate my family and have learned without their support and trust; I wouldn’t be where I am today. Also, I made great friends in high school that will last a long time. I have two best friends that seem like a brother and sister to me, I appreciate the people I have in my life, and have come to appreciate this “dash” and I believe that it has made me the person that I am today.
I'd have to begin by saying my dash is things im passionate about. this includes serious off road mountain biking, snowboarding, and photography. My friends and family are also very important to me. Without them my life would be very lonely. I think my dash is going to get more and more interesting as my life goes on. There is certainly room for more...
My life dash is of course hands down, without question, my family. They define me as who I am. They are the people that no matter how much I enrage them, they are still the people who are always there for every moment. The good, the bad, and the ugly, especially the ugly. We yell, we fight, we scream, sure what family doesn't, but without them I am not me.
My Dash
My dad and I have always been very close. I can't imagine who I would be today if it wasn't for him. He was my best friend when I was growing up. He would play basketball with me on Sundays, help me with my homework if I was confused, and even take me to movies on the weekends. It didn't matter what the occasion, he was always there for me. My dad was my hero. I still love my dad, but he works so much now that I hardly ever get to see him. My mom and I were the complete opposite, however. We never got along. To this day, I wonder whether we will ever have a relationship at all. I wish things were different, because I can't help but feel sad when I think about my wedding day, when I won't have a mom or sisters to share such a special day.
My dad has definitely been the most important person in my life thus far.

In the years between my life and death, few people will have meant more to me then my friends and family. These are the people that have shaped my worldview, and helped me to become the man I am today. Furthermore, they have stood by me through thick and thin, and will continue to do so.
Growing up in a blue-collar family, my parents have always taught me the value never taking life for granted. My father passed on his hard work ethic and never give up attiftude. My mother passed on her sense of self-sacrifice and taught me to always make time for people when they need you. These traits have helped me to become the man I am today.
My friends have also helped me immensely. Whenever I have needed advice or just to talk, they always made the time for me. I have also tried to do the same for them. This has also helped me to become the man I want to be. When I can be there for someone that needs me, I know that my life has a plan and purpose.
All in all, I want to be know as a man who did what was right no matter what. A man who stuck by his character and conviction even when it was the hardest thing to do. To quote an Emerson Drive song:
"I wanna be the one. When all is said and done. Who lived a good life, loved a good wife, and always helped someone in trouble. On the day they lay me down, I want everyone to gather ‘round. And say he was a father, brother, neighbor and a friend. He was a good man!"
I could be someone who seeks to be famous and important, but these things alone would not make me happy. If I could live my life like the man in the song, when I die, I will have been a success.

I can't really explain my dash because I only been on this earth for 18 years, and out of the 18 years I probaly only remember 15. I have love and respect for all of my friends and family. I accomplished graduating from high school and going to college. I have grown a lot since my younger years by attending college. I feel like I've grown from boy to young adult within the past couple of months!
my family means the world to me. They have always supported me. They also show me things that I enjoy such a snow and water skiing. Also my close friends. these are the ones who have been there since elementary school
alot of things are important to me, but the most im portant thing to me is my family. Me and my sister are close and they always help me get through though situations. My gradparent are also very close to me and they play an importanty role in my life because they helped raise me when i was young. Our family always would go on vacations together and travel around the world.
